BES started operations with the acquisition of Halo, a fully trained detection dog in March 2017. The purchase of the scent dog is a joint venture between Bellden and the Turner Family Trust, owners of the Spicers Hidden Vale Threatened Species Environment Center, co managed with the University of Queensland.
BES’s services are used by the Center to establish feral animal threat in areas of potential threatened species release as well as the distribution and presence of Koala on their properties. BES also works closely with Healthy Land and Water, the regional natural resource management group within South East Queensland. We have collaborative in threatened species conservation projects such as the Eastern Bristle Bird Recovery initiative.
Since the beginning of 2018, BES worked with Queensland Urban Utilities to train and deploy water leak detection dogs. This resulted in the purchase and training of Danny who is solely dedicated to finding water leaks. A first for Queensland, these dogs can be used to locate and identify leaks in underground water mains throughout South East Queensland.
